Privacy
Short version: we collect very little, and we do not sell any of it.
Eden Mill Software LLC is a one-person software business based in the Baltimore, Maryland area. This page describes what happens to information when you visit edenmillsoftware.com or get in touch. It is written to be read rather than to satisfy a lawyer, and it says what is actually true of this site.
This site has no sign-up and no login. You can read every page without giving us anything.
Three third-party services run on the site and collect information about visits:
Google Analytics records which pages are opened, roughly where in the world the visitor is, what kind of device they used, and which links and buttons get clicked. It sets cookies to tell one visit from another. We use it to work out which pages are useful and which are not.
The Meta Pixel records which pages are opened and a few specific actions: booking a call, clicking the phone number or the email address, sending the project form, and joining the MillHQ waitlist. It does not receive anything you typed into a form. It sets cookies that let Meta recognize a browser from one site to another, which means Meta can connect your visit to a Facebook or Instagram account if you have one. We use it to measure advertising on Facebook and Instagram and to build audiences for it. If you would rather it did not, the Off-Facebook Activity settings inside your Facebook or Instagram account let you disconnect this, and a tracker-blocking browser or extension stops it reaching Meta in the first place.
Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used: where a visitor scrolls, what they click, and the order they move through the site. Because the site gets a small number of visitors, this is recorded as a session we can replay rather than only as a count, so we can see where a page confuses people. It sets cookies to tell one visit from another. It does not capture anything you type into the project form, and it masks text on the page by default. We use it to find what is broken or unclear, not to identify you, and we do not combine it with anything else named here. A tracker-blocking browser or extension stops it.
The project form asks for your name, your email and a description of what you would like built. Phone, company, budget and timing are optional. When you send it, those answers are emailed to Chris. The website itself does not store them.
Resend delivers that email to us, under its own privacy policy.
Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the form is being sent by a person rather than a bot. It uses signals from your browser to do that, under Cloudflare’s own privacy policy. It only runs on the project form and the MillHQ waitlist form.
The waitlist form asks for your email. Your company name and the software you use today are optional. We also record the time you signed up, the page that sent you to us, and any campaign tags in the link you followed, if there were any.
Those details are stored in a database on Cloudflare, which hosts this site, and Chris is emailed each new signup through Resend. We use them to send you one email when there is something to show you, and for nothing else.
To stop the form being flooded, we keep a coded version of your connection’s IP address for one day. It is not stored as the address itself, and it is deleted automatically.
If you email us, we have your email and whatever you wrote, and we keep it so we can carry on the conversation. Nothing else happens to it.
If you book a call, that booking runs through Calendly, which collects your name, email and the time you picked, under its own privacy policy. We see the booking. We do not see anything else Calendly holds.
We do not sell your information, and we will not. We do not share it with anyone beyond the services named on this page. We do advertise on Facebook and Instagram, and the Meta Pixel described above does build audiences for that from the pages people open here — that is the one place on this site where your visit is used for advertising, and it is why the pixel is named above rather than left unmentioned. We do not run ads on the site itself, and there is no newsletter you can be added to without asking.
The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel and Microsoft Clarity. The Google ones count visits and tell returning visitors from new ones; the Meta ones let Meta recognize a browser across sites for advertising; the Clarity ones tie the pages of one visit together. Nothing on the site requires any of them, and blocking them in your browser will not stop any page from working.
If you would rather Google Analytics did not record your visits anywhere, Google publishes a browser add-on that turns it off across every site that uses it. For the Meta Pixel, the controls are in your Facebook or Instagram account under Off-Facebook Activity. Microsoft publishes an opt-out for Clarity on its own site. Blocking third-party cookies, or using a browser that blocks trackers by default, stops all three.
Analytics data is held on Google’s standard retention schedule for the property, currently fourteen months, after which it is deleted automatically. Email is kept as long as it is useful to the conversation. Waitlist signups are kept until you ask us to remove yours. Ask us to delete anything and we will.
Write to chris@edenmillsoftware.com and ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be deleted, or ask us to stop contacting you. There is no ticket queue. Chris reads it and answers.
If you are in a place with laws that give you specific rights over your data, we will honor them whether or not those laws technically apply to a business this size.
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date below changes with it.
